Abstract |
Cervical epidural nerve block is known to be a useful procedure for the management of radiating pain on the upper extremity. A 77-year-old woman underwent epidural nerve block for the relief of radiating pain on right upper extremity. Thirty minutes after the procedure, patient experienced motor paralysis of left leg. The patient was managed with intravenous analgesics and steroids. But three hours after the block, motor weakness of both lower extremities was progressive. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) showed epidural hematoma extending from C4 to T3. Emergent decompressive surgery was performed. Ope- ration was successful and patient recovered satisfactory without any sequelae. |
