Abstract |
Fractures of long bones caused by violent convulsive seizures has been well documented in the literature. But overt burst fractures of the spinal columns have been rarely reported. We have experienced two cases of lumbar burst fractures caused by generalized tonic clonic seizure. A 29-year-old male was admitted after a violent attack of generalized tonic clonic seizure. Further evaluation revealed astrocytoma of the left frontal cortex, resulting in a burst fracture of the lumbar spine. A second case was a female who suffered from a similar seizure. |
