Abstract |
Lumbar disc herniation is one of the most common cause of low back pain and sciatica. But several intraspinal cysts manifest symptoms and signs resembling those of lumbar disc herniation. Among them we report three cases of ventrolateral epidural located intraspinal cyst,so called discal cyst. The magnetic resonance(MR) image revealed mild degenerated disc and extradural cystic mass with intermediate to low signal intensity on T1-weighted imaging and high signal intensity on T2-weighted imaging. Contrast enhanced image showed rim enhancement of the lesion. The cyst was removed in ventrolateral epidural space after exposure of the nerve root through the interlaminar space with conventional interlaminar approach. The content of the cyst was bloody serous fluid. The symptoms of the patients improved after operation. |
