Call for Papers: Special Issue on Non-Surgical Treatments for the Spine

Neurospine is pleased to announce a call for papers for a special issue dedicated to exploring non-surgical treatments for spinal conditions. We invite researchers, clinicians, and practitioners to submit original research articles, review papers, case studies, and clinical trials that contribute to advancing knowledge and understanding in this field.

Topics of Interest:

We welcome submissions on a wide range of topics related to non-surgical treatments for the spine, including but not limited to:

  • • Epidemiology of Spinal Pain: Studies on the prevalence, risk factors, and socio-economic impact of spinal pain.
  • • History of Pain Treatment in Different Countries: Historical perspectives on how various countries have approached the treatment of spinal pain.
  • • Pharmacological Treatments: Research on medications used for spinal pain management, including their efficacy, safety, and long-term outcomes.
  • • Spinal Injections: Efficacy and safety of epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, and facet joint injections.
  • • Spinal Interventions: Efficacy and safety of RF ablations, BVN neurotomy, percutaneous adhesiolysis, percutaneous epiduroscopy, endoscopic foraminoplasty, and novel cement augmentation.
  • • Neuromodulation: Efficacy and safety of neuromodulation including SCS, DRG stimulation, and other novel modulation techniques.
  • • Pain Management Techniques: Non-pharmacological approaches to spinal pain management, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness.
  • • Lifestyle and Behavioral Interventions: Impact of lifestyle modifications, exercise, and diet on spinal health and pain prevention.

Submission Guidelines:

Manuscripts should be prepared according to Neurospine’s submission guidelines.
Original Research Articles: Should present new and significant findings that advance understanding in non-surgical spinal treatments.
Review Articles: Comprehensive overviews of the current state of knowledge in specific areas of non-surgical spinal care.
Case Studies: Detailed reports of clinical cases that provide insights into non-surgical treatment approaches.
Clinical Trials: Reports on the design, methodology, and outcomes of clinical trials related to non-surgical interventions for the spine.

The Korean Neuro Pain Society
The Pacific Spinal Pain Society

The Korean Neuro Pain Society (KNPS) and the Pacific Spine and Pain Society (PSPS), both deeply committed to advancing the field of spinal pain, have decided to collaborate on a special issue of Neurospine. This issue is set to address a growing concern in the medical community: despite the widespread and often excessive performance of spinal surgeries, many underlying problems and patient outcomes remain unresolved. This reality highlights the urgent need for diverse research and innovative approaches in the treatment and management of spinal disorders.

In recent years, spinal surgery has become increasingly common, often viewed as a primary solution for various spinal conditions. However, the frequent reliance on traditional surgical methods has not always led to satisfactory results. Patients continue to face challenges such as persistent pain, limited mobility, and recurrence of symptoms. This situation underscores a critical gap in our understanding and approach to spinal health. It is clear that more holistic and multidisciplinary strategies are required to effectively address these issues.

Recognizing this need, KNPS and PSPS aim to use this special issue of Neurospine as a platform to explore and present a wide range of alternative methods and innovative research. The special issue will feature studies and reviews on emerging technologies, minimally invasive procedures, advancements in pain management, and integrative approaches that combine surgical and non-surgical treatments. By highlighting these diverse perspectives, the issue will encourage the adoption of more tailored and patient-specific treatment plans that go beyond conventional surgical practices.

This initiative not only aims to improve clinical outcomes but also to foster collaboration across different specialties, encouraging a broader, more comprehensive approach to spinal care. KNPS and PSPS hope that this special issue will inspire ongoing research and dialogue, ultimately leading to more effective and patient-centered solutions for spinal disorders. The goal is to move beyond the limitations of current practices and embrace a future where spinal health is managed through innovation, interdisciplinary cooperation, and a deep commitment to improving patient quality of life.
