Volume 16(1); March 2019http://www.e-neurospine.org

Dear Spine Surgeons and Researchers,

Neurospine has been indexed in Web of Science (ESCI) and Scopus.
The editorial board of Neurospine is proud to announce that Neurospine was indexed in ESCI on December 11, 2018 and in Scopus on March 19, 2019. In the ESCI and Scopus indices, Neurospine is included in the category of standard and premiere academic spine journals.

Articles published in Neurospine will be counted as measurable academic achievements in both the QS World University Ranking System (Scopus) and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (Web of Science). This indicates that publishing articles in Neurospine will be more competitive and will require rigorous standards of academic research and ethics.

Endoscopic Spine Surgery

The current issue (March 2019) is a special edition dedicated to new intellectual advances in endoscopic spine surgery.

The Neurospine editorial board organized this special issue, with an invited editorial team led by Dr. Jeffrey Wang (Los Angeles, USA) and Dr. Hyeun-Sung Kim (Seoul, Korea). In this special issue, Neurospine presents knowledge and experience regarding outstanding achievements in endoscopic spine surgery, a field that has revolutionized the principles of conventional spine surgery.

Endoscopic spine surgery has developed over several years, and many further developments are expected in its future. In a review article entitled “Evolution of Spinal Endoscopic Surgery,” Dr. Manyoung Kim categorizes and describes the history of endoscopic surgery organized by generation, and presents perspectives on the future of endoscopic spine surgery. It is predicted that spinal stenosis will have an important impact on quality of life in the future as the elderly population increases. Dr. Fujio Ito presents a method of resolving spinal stenosis through sequential and safe spinal endoscopy in a paper entitled “Step-by-Step Sublaminar Approach With a Newly-Designed Spinal Endoscope for Unilateral-Approach Bilateral Decompression in Spinal Stenosis.” In addition, Dr. Anthony Yeung presents a method to resolve spinal stenosis with a minimally invasive technique under local anesthesia in the article “Treatment of Soft Tissue and Bony Spinal Stenosis by a Visualized Endoscopic Transforaminal Technique Under Local Anesthesia.” A steep learning curve is needed to safely perform spinal endoscopic surgery for spinal stenosis. Dr. Chul-Woo Lee proposes a method to solve this problem in “Percutaneous Endoscopic Decompression in Lumbar Canal and Lateral Recess Stenosis – The Surgical Learning Curve.” The development of spinal endoscopy has also been adapted for spinal fusion, and Dr. Yoshinori Kyoh presents a method for safely performing lumbar interbody fusion in a paper entitled “Minimally Invasive Endoscopic-Assisted Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion: Technical Report and Preliminary Results.
