Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the Special Issue in Neurospine (ISSN 2586-6591, https://www.e-neurospine.org/), dedicated to “Emerging Biotechnologies for the Treatment of the Spine”.

This Special Issue will highlight the latest advances and future directions in the biotechnology for the treatment of the spine. Recent development in the basic science, translational, and clinical research fields has significantly changed the therapeutic strategy for spinal diseases. Regenerative medicine including growth factors, cell transplantation, and gene therapy is always the central biotechnological innovation in the intervertebral disc, cartilage endplates, and facet joints. New biological agents and materials for bone formation and neural repair play a pioneering role in the treatment for osteoporosis and spinal cord injury. Furthermore, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, and robotic intervention have been rapidly changing the disease diagnosis, treatment decision-making, and surgical accuracy and safety in the spine. Therefore, leading experts will discuss the efficacy and potential of these new applications. Based on gathering cutting-edge researches and expert perspectives, this Special Issue aims to update knowledge and accelerate communication, ultimately strengthening collaboration through emerging biotechnologies.

This Special Issue stems from the efforts of BioSpine Japan, Biospine Korea, and Biospine Asia Pacific, aimed at driving biotechnological advances in the field of the spine. However, not limited to these communities, we strongly encourage worldwide active researchers and scientists to submit papers addressing hypothesis-generating data and fresh ideas.

This Special Issue will be published in Neurospine, and we are currently inviting submissions of original research manuscripts, narrative and systematic review papers, meta-analysis articles, and authoritative commentaries for peer review and potential publication.

We look forward to your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at https://submit.e-neurospine.org/ by registering and logging in to the website of Neurospine. Once after the registration, the corresponding author(s) can access the submission form directly. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline, and all submissions that pass the initial pre-check will proceed to peer review. Accepted papers will be published in the Neurospine journal and featured on the Special Issue webpage.

We welcome submissions of original research articles, narrative as well as systematic review and meta-analysis articles, and authoritative commentaries. For planned contributions, the corresponding author(s) may send a proposed title and a short abstract (approximately 100 words) to the Neurospine editorial office for preliminary consideration and announcement.

Please note the following guidelines:

  • • Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except in the conference proceedings).
  • • All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process.
  • • Detailed submission guidelines, including formatting requirements and other essential information, can be found on the website for the Instructions for authors.
  • • The deadline for submission will be set to December 31, 2025.

Neurospine is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access quarterly journal. Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure it is well-formatted and written in proficient English.
