We report the case of a 74-year-old man with spinal metastasis from a cerebellar anaplastic astrocytoma. The patient received radiation therapy and experienced no recurrence of the brain tumor. However, he developed spinal metastasis 4 months after radiation therapy of the cerebellar tumor. He presented with back pain, a radiating pain to both legs, and a walking difficulty. Magnetic resonance(MR) images of the spine revealed a round mass intradurally at L2-3. A laminectomy was performed and the intradural tumor was subtotally resected. A microscopic examination revealed spinal metastasis of the anaplastic astrocytoma. He received radiation to the lumbar spine. We report a case of spinal seeding of an anaplastic astrocytoma of the cerebellum.
