Abstract |
Intraspinal gas-containing cyst is an uncommon cause of radiculopathy. Its occurrence in Korean has not previously been documented, while there are a few case reports in the literature worldwide. The authors present a case of gas-containing cyst with a radiological and histological findings. A 67-year-old female patient presented with right leg radiculopathy. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging studies showed a gas-containing cyst lesion at the posterior aspect of L4 vertebral body. She underwent a transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion at L4-5 and L5-S1 due to degenerative segmental instability. The entire gas-containing cyst was excised. Histological examination revealed a multilobular cystic mass with a synovial cell-lining cystic wall. There were no postoperative complications. The patient's neurologic symptoms were markedly improved immediate postoperatively.
